A carport to protect your car(s) will soon become an important part of your everyday life. Forget about rain, snow, ice on the car windows in the morning, UV-rays on the paintwork, falling leaves and more. Just drive into the carport and your car is sheltered and ready to go when you are going the next time. Without a carport, you can spend a lot of time removing ice and snow from the car before you can leave in the morning. You can place a detached carport almost anywhere as long as you check with the local rules and regulations. You can have carports in metal and polycarbonate or natural Nordic spruce. You can place either of these carports next to most types of houses – classic houses as well as modern houses. The metal carports are neutral in colour and almost invisible due to the thin lines and light construction. The wooden carports can be in natural wood or any colour you like.
How to assemble your carport
All our carports are delivered as an assembly set due to transport logistics and cost. That means that you have to do a little work to get the carport assembled and secured. Follow the enclosed manual and you will soon have the carport you want. Please be aware of our Safety Advice when working on the carport. You will find the Safety Advice in the shop and enclosed with the carport.
Which base or foundation do you need for a carport?
All our carports are sturdy and durable structures which will last for a long time but you still have to secure the carport by placing it on a form and even base and fasten it according to the manual. You can place the carport on a foundation or base such as flagstones, cement, stamped gravel, or similar. This will provide stability, easier assembly, durability, functionality and the perfect look. Please note that an insufficient or uneven foundation could provide troubles and potential danger if the carport is not secured. Never underestimate the power of wind!
Different types of foundations and solutions
You can make different kinds of foundations – each foundation type has its pros and cons. Are you in doubt, contact a professional. It may not be difficult, but you need to do it right from the start. Which base is the best also depends a little of the type of soil there is on the spot where you are going to have the carport. Here are some types of foundations to consider:
- Concrete Slab Base
- Strip Foundations
- Paving slabs or flagstones
- Adjustable Riser Pedestal or Breeze Blocks on gravel
- Stop Digging Ground Screw or GroundPlug©
- Post feet for the posts
